It also likened McTominay to Matthaus for his versatility and an eye for goal from midfield.
McTominay's 11 goals for Napoli this season are the most by any Scottish player in a single Italian top-flight season, breaking the record set by the legendary Denis Law, who scored 10 goals for Torino in the 1961-62 season.
McTominay will be hoping to continue his rich goal-scoring vein when Napoli take on Lecce on Saturday, May 3. Conte's side are currently at the top of the Serie A table with just four games to go.
